Is your love written in the stars? Does your fiancee love reading her horoscope? Then a zodiac ring for your engagement may be the perfect choice! Each star sign has its own set of tendencies and driving forces.  They also each have their own zodiac stone! So, couples that love the stars have lots of options. Read on to hear more about what your star sign will love in a personalized engagement ring!

What are zodiac signs?

Zodiac signs are based off of a set of constellations that appear along Earth’s yearly orbit around the sun, as originally found by the Ancient Greeks. There are twelve of these star signs, each dedicated to a specific time period of the year. And, your star sign coordinates with your birthday! Each zodiac sign is aligned with an element: earth, fire, water, air. According to astrology, your star sign impacts how you view the world, and even your future!

Geek note: The dates associated with each zodiac sign were set by the Ancient Babylonians. The dates when the sun shows through each constellation has changed a bit over the years. There’s even a controversial 13th constellation, Ophiuchus. However, astrologists maintain that the original signs and dates set by the Babylonians are more relevant to astrological forecasting.

How can star signs help me choose an engagement ring?

Each star sign is associated with personality traits, which can help you decide what your priorities are when selecting an engagement ring! For example, Aries are competitive, so when choosing zodiac ring engagement: go big! On the other hand, Cancers are sentimental, so you’ll want to dial in on personal touches. Your partner’s zodiac sign can also lend some clues to how to propose. A star sign’s element can give great direction here (more on that below).

Zodiac Ring Engagement Styles

Aries

Aries, our first fire sign, is super competitive. Known to be a little hotheaded, Aries like to be right, and like to be #1. So, focus on going big and showy. A large center stone in a high end Luna or a flashy Mekelle would fit the bill! Check out our blog on getting the most bang for your buck in a nice big solitaire here!

Looking for your Aries Zodiac stone? It’s Bloodstone! Bloodstone is a bit soft for a gemstone engagement ring, but you can reap its power by choosing a speckled diamond or sapphire. Email us here if you’re looking for a bloodstone colored engagement ring for your Aries!

Taurus

Taurus are happy, practical people. They prioritize comfort, so look for something easy to wear and that sits flush with a wedding band. Our Mae is a great choice for a classic look, and for those seeking a little more sparkle, our Aspen’s floral gallery means it’s strong and less likely to catch. Choose a Round or Oval for maximum comfort.

Looking for your Taurus Zodiac stone? It’s Sapphire! Sapphire engagement rings are traditional and gorgeous. Check out our sapphire options here, and email us here if you’re looking for a custom curated sapphire engagement ring selection for your Taurus!

Gemini

The twins, Gemini, are witty social butterflies. Give them something to talk about! A toi et moi style custom engagement ring would be the perfect fit. Or, for a more classic style, give her a pair of pears to show off along side a stunning center in our Maya. Geminis like variation, so avoid a classic Round center.

Looking for your Gemini Zodiac stone? It’s Agate! Agate is a bit soft for a gemstone engagement ring, but you can capitalize on its power by choosing a watercolor diamond or star sapphire. Email us here if you’re looking for an agate colored engagement ring for your Gemini!

Cancer

Our first water sign, Cancer, is sensitive and likes to know you put in thought. Check out vintage styles like Katherine or Sophie, to appeal to her sense of nostalgia. And, add a custom engraving like your song or nicknames for the special touch she craves. Make sure to look at her Pinterest pages so you can see any additional details she wants.

Looking for your Cancer Zodiac stone? It’s Emerald! Emerald makes a great engagement ring choice, as it’s durable, rare, and beautiful. Email us here if you’re looking for an emerald engagement ring for your Cancer!

Leo

Leos are bold and confident. They have great swagger and love to rock a big look. Halos are the perfect way to let them show off that sense of pride! A lovely Elle or or Abila would make your lioness happy! Any shape goes, just make sure it’s flashy.

Looking for your Leo Zodiac stone? It’s Onyx! Onyx is a dramatic black color, however, it is a bit soft for daily wear. You can take advantage of your onyx power through choosing a black diamond engagement ring that will last through the ages! Email us here if you’re looking for an onyx colored engagement ring for your Leo!

Virgo

Virgos are super logical, so go with a classic that matches everything. Learn how to get the best traditional round diamond here, or opt for a classic cushion. And then set it in an Asha, the original engagement setting. Bonus points for platinum, the most durable metal.

Looking for your Virgo Zodiac stone? It’s Carnelian! Carnelian is a bit soft for a great gemstone engagement ring, but you can capitalize on this astrological power by choosing a watercolor diamond or star sapphire. Email us here if you’re looking for a carnelian colored engagement ring for your Virgo!

Libra

Libras like balance and everything to be in its place. So, choose a ring that reflects their sense of inner calm. A three-stone like Everly or the Tapered Baguette would be the perfect zodiac ring. Choose a shape that is symmetrical and orderly – so pears and hearts are out, as are “crushed ice” cushions and radiants. Stick to a round, oval, princess, or emerald cut.

Looking for your Libra Zodiac stone? It’s Peridot! Peridot, unfortunately, is not a great gemstone engagement ring, because it’s a bit too soft for daily wear. However, we have gorgeous peridot-colored lime green diamonds that will let you take advantage of this power, while remaining durable! Email us here if you’re looking for a peridot colored engagement ring for your Libra!

Scorpio

Ooh so mysterious. Scorpio is a riddle wrapped in a conundrum. They are passionate and intense. Pack on the hidden details with this water sign. Great choices include Hidden Halo and Jolie! Bonus points for including a hidden engraving or gem embedded inside the band. Go for maximum fire in your diamond cut – choose a stone with a small table and a high crown. Other hidden flair your Scorpio may like include blue nuance or extra contrast.

Looking for your Scorpio Zodiac stone? It’s Aquamarine! Aquamarine can be a good choice for a gemstone engagement ring, if you choose a dark toned stone. Read more about how to pick a good Aqua here, and email us here if you’re looking for an aquamarine engagement ring for your Scorpio!

Sagittarius

The ever moving archer! Sagittarius is boisterous and loves adventure. Make sure to choose a shape that won’t catch on things while they’re moving a mile a minute. Rounds and ovals are your friend, avoid stones with sharp corners like princess, marquise, or pear. Check out protected settings like Rosie or Callan so your archer can continue their active lifestyle.

Looking for your Sagittarius Zodiac stone? It’s Topaz! Topaz is a beautiful choice for a gemstone engagement ring as it’s fairly durable and comes in a lot of different colors! Email us here if you’re looking for a topaz engagement ring for your Sagittarius!

Capricorn

Capricorns are mature and classic, and have been since birth. Go for refined styles like our Tapered Baguette or Talia. Elegant shapes like emerald and a classic round are good choices – they are timeless just like your Cap. Stay away from shapes and metals that tend to go through phases, like rose gold, princess cut, and marquise cut.

Looking for your Capricorn Zodiac stone? It’s Ruby! Ruby is an excellent choice for a gemstone engagement ring as it’s super durable and gorgeous! Check out our ruby selection here, or email us for a custom curated ruby engagement ring selection!

Aquarius

Your Aquarius is in her head 24/7. Conceptual, and ever philosophizing, choose a ring that symbolizes your love. Our Unity or Infinity are great choices, and she’ll love hearing about her ring’s meaning during your proposal. Aquarius will most appreciate a blockchain natural diamond or a carbon neutral lab diamond, as she’ll want to know you put the effort in to be ethical.

Looking for your Aquarius Zodiac stone? It’s Garnet! Garnet is a good choice for a gemstone engagement ring as it’s fairly durable and comes in a lot of different colors! Email us here if you’re looking for a garnet engagement ring for your Aquarius!

Pisces

Our final water sign, Pisces is highly emotional, and caught up in a dream. Choose a setting that blends their fantasy with a dose of reality to keep them grounded. The Floating Ring or Patronus bypass designs are great picks. Customize the Floating Ring by emailing us here, as you’ll want to pick a shape other than round (your Pisces wants something out of the ordinary).

Looking for your Pisces Zodiac stone? It’s Amethyst! Amethyst is unfortunately not a great choice for an engagement ring, as it’s a bit too soft and will scratch/chip. However! Amethyst colored topaz and purple sapphire can help you tap into this power, while remaining durable for daily wear! Email us here if you’re looking for an amethyst colored engagement ring for your Pisces!

A Zodiac Ring Engagement: Element Proposals

Your partner’s astrological element can also help you plan your engagement. Air signs (Gemini, Libra, and Aquarius) are social and intellectual: make it meaningful and include others. Fire signs (Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius) are passionate and spontaneous: make it dramatic, when the time is right. Water signs (Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces) are sensitive and perceptive: make sure to pay attention to the details and what your partner has been hinting at. Earth signs (Taurus, Virgo, and Capricorn) are practical and physical: good food and wine will go a long way!
