FAQs
D provides absolute colorlessness in a Dutch marquise. The softer, more rounded curves distinguish this shape from a traditional marquise. Like all marquise variants, the pointed ends can concentrate body color. D eliminates any tip-color concerns entirely, ensuring ice-white appearance from point to point through the gently curved body.
The Dutch marquise shows color similarly to a traditional marquise at the pointed ends, but its broader, more gently rounded sides may distribute warmth slightly more evenly across the face. At D color, this is irrelevant since there is no body color. The distinction matters at near-colorless grades.
VS2 is typically eye-clean. The Dutch marquise uses brilliant-style faceting that conceals inclusions well. The broader body with softer curves tends to show less bowtie than a traditional marquise. VS2 provides excellent value with D color in this unique shape.
At carats, a D color dutch marquise is colorless, meaning it is absolutely colorless with no detectable warmth. Only detectable by trained gemologists with master stones. In white gold or platinum, D color faces up clean and bright. In yellow or rose gold, any faint body color becomes imperceptible against the warm metal. The dutch marquise cut's antique brilliant facets create elegant reflections of the metal color.
