FAQs
G is the top of the near-colorless range. At 3 carats, G in a pear appears white in everyday conditions. The pointed tip may show the faintest warmth under very specific comparison conditions, but in normal wear, G looks clean and brilliant across the entire teardrop body.
G is a strong choice. The pear's brilliant faceting provides good color masking. At 3 carats, G offers very substantial savings. In warm metals, G is indistinguishable from colorless grades. In white gold, the vast majority of people see no warmth, including at the tip.
G's near-colorless warmth is so minimal that tip concentration is typically not noticeable at 3 carats. Under very specific comparison conditions, a very faint difference at the tip might be perceptible, but in everyday wear, G appears uniformly white across the entire teardrop.
The difference between G and H color is very difficult to detect with the naked eye in a pear cut, especially since brilliant-cut faceting masks subtle color differences. Once set in a ring, both grades appear equally white. Choosing H color over G in a 3 carat pear can free up budget for a better cut or larger stone.
