J at 2 carats shows a warm tint more visible than at 1 carat. Two carat lab grown diamonds are a wonderful spot. Chunky cushions at 2 carats show J most openly. Crushed-ice is more forgiving. In yellow gold, warmth can blend. In white gold, J at 2 carats in a cushion is challenging.
Yellow gold is essential. Choose crushed-ice faceting for maximum color dispersion. Halos of colorless diamonds create a whitening frame. When looking for 2 carat cushions, look between 1.9 to 2.2 carats. Avoid chunky cushions in white gold at this size-color combination.
J saves 20% to 30% over G, substantial at 2 carats. In yellow gold with crushed-ice, a 2 carat J cushion can deliver acceptable results. For white gold or chunky cushions, G or H is recommended.
