FAQs
D provides absolute colorlessness but is not necessary for most buyers. One carat lab grown diamonds are a great starting point. Many vintage enthusiasts prefer G or H in yellow gold for period-authentic character. D creates a modern interpretation of the antique elongated cut.
VS1 or VS2. The larger antique facets are somewhat more transparent. VS1 provides extra assurance. Both work well with D for a premium antique-style elongated stone.
D looks ice-white through the larger antique facets. The elongated vintage sparkle appears clean and crisp. D creates a modern, high-quality interpretation of the antique oval style with no body color.
The difference between D and E color is virtually impossible to detect with the naked eye in a old mine oval cut, though step-cut facets can show color slightly more readily. Once set in a ring, both grades appear equally white. Choosing E color over D in a 1 carat old mine oval can free up budget for a better cut or larger stone.
