In brilliant cuts, many SI1 stones are still eye-clean at 2 carats. In step cuts, SI1 is risky. Individual evaluation is essential. When looking for 2 carat lab diamonds, look between 1.9 to 2.2 carats.

In brilliant cuts, many 2 carat SI1 lab diamonds are eye-clean, though the odds are slightly lower than at 1 carat. The larger face makes inclusions slightly more visible. Step cuts at 2 carats are unlikely to be eye-clean at SI1. Each stone should be evaluated individually.

SI1 saves 15% to 25% over VS2 at 2 carats. At this larger size, the dollar savings are substantial. If you find an eye-clean SI1 brilliant cut, the savings can fund a significant upgrade in setting or a move within the 1.9 to 2.2 carat value range.
